Say what?

Well; these are not the best I have ever gotten, but what they show speak louder than the technique..
I decided to do them grainy, warped and over exposed, the whole scene felt that way....
Sometime people just hate because is what they seek within their soul and justify it with anything....
and as a counter reaction they galvanized those who are being protested against...
I was able to experienced that last Thursday when the Westboro Baptist Church was in town...

The Shadow Society.

One thing is what we choose to see, and another what is there.

When I started working on this project I had the dual imagery permanently circulating in my mind.
The one that cannot be seen, the one that only has shadows casted upon it. and the one that is humanly present with simplicity.
I didn't know how to evolve within it until I heard an excerpt from NPR news as an incredible struck of coincidence, an interview to one "Jornalero". He explained that they were the shadow society, the one with no voice, the one always afraid to be removed, the one with no right, but the one that always kept some part of the real society moving with the help of their work.

The Statue

And so I found her standing there;
I walked just by her paying attention to my equipment and didn't see her
Until I felt movement; I looked back and the statue raised her arms.
She stayed still and locked in that position for at least 3 minutes.
After that she proceeded to pray.

What you find in the country...

Here we are, amidst of progress in the middle of the country.
How do we say it? Oh yes, The devil is in the details; I guess.

And One, Two, Three.....

Hectic week this one has been.
and I am back on the stage, as the performers you will see on this post.
My first experiences as a freelance photographer came from taking assignments for Musicians, since my significant other is one himself.
Imagine that!!!!photographers know that this is no easy task, Low light conditions, lots of movement, lots of grain....whoever can get decent shots on this atmosphere graduates on High Stress Level Photography.
I am in love with performers, the intensity level they put out is worth every effort to capture them; that is why I enjoyed so much photo shooting musicians, and street performers.
Take a look at the event I covered last week as Fundraiser for Haiti Relief efforts.

We all have a little bit of madness within us; just a few make a living of it.

Most of us look for a steady source of income; relating that to a sense of security, most of us also look into a career or trade that will not make us risk too much, either by keeping us developing skills that we already have or just by keeping us comfy on to an office chair with a computer in front of us, and the doughnuts in the break rooms.
But just a few; decide to either think differently; or they are so out of their mind that they come to work every day not knowing what they are going to make; and risking their own bodies to perform a good enough show, so they can take a few bills home. The trade? they get to be pretty much free of bosses, office environment, and they can schedule their day as they pleased; or so I assume; because behind this madness I can see a little bit of the rewards of thinking and acting differently. This is the atmosphere you breath every dusk at the Sunset Celebration on Key West.

The Urban Living Room

We always seem to try to make ourselves feel at home; even in the most dire of circumstances; give your self something that has resemblance of a shelter, and automatically we will hang, paint, collect, draw , express our taste, feeling , emotions, aversions...
Where else is this better expressed than in our urban walls?, urban bridges and our urban living rooms
A room with a view for everybody?...
