"In your Dreams" Opening

A Postcard from San Francisco

And so I got it today, the postcard for The Toy Camera Show I will be part of starting on March 4th. at The Rayko Gallery in San Francisco. I am absolutely thrilled to just be a part of that endeavor.
I will not be able to be physically present for the opening, but my heart, my mind and soul will sure be there.
Whoever roams around  SF and is interested in seeing a very intriguing Toy Camera Show stop at Rayko from March 4th through April 30th. You will not be disappointed.

Uniqueness+ a Happy B-Day to me...

"So dreamy, freaky and sensual, they convey a lot of emotions!!!" This was the comment I got from the first photographer who saw these 2 images below.I felt compelled after that comment to submit them for a Toy Camera Competition, and guess what? I got selected. So I will be in a group Exhibit at the Rayko Gallery in San Francisco, California, from March 4th- May 1st.

These two images are unique, feminine, messy,"dreamy,freaky and sensual" goodness I am exhausted with all these adjectives!!!

 I am thrilled all the way!!!! and BTW, I got the announcement last Thursday, when my Birthday was about to expire. Couldn't ask for anything more that day. It was a fantastic time and I feel very happy,happy, joy, joy!!!

Last Saturday @ Charlie's Studios

These are a few shots that me & Hubby spent taking last weekend @ Charlie's Studios for his Goat Headed Chicken Workshop. It was a very unique experience. Next post will show Sunday and the completion of the sculpture.

Content for workshop ..This is a hands on metal working workshop series that will focus on building a site specific metal fire caldron for the Mulberry Fields Community Garden in Candler Park. The finished sculpture - as well as documentation of the
workshop - will be featured at the closing of the Inspire, Incite, Ignite exhibit at Eyedrum Atlanta on November
20th 2010.

Mulberry Fields Community Garden and Green Space is an urban oasis in Candler Park committed to
protecting the natural environment, growing healthy food, and nurturing the spirit of free play, discovery and art.
Each week children and families flock to the garden to enjoy the flowers, the veggies, the goats and chickens.
Our new Fire Scupture will be dedicated and celebrated at the Winter Solstice.

Charlie Smith and The Art of Such n' Such.

 Eyedrum has been an artist venue in Atlanta since 1998. It has a very active schedule throughout the year that showcases Photography, Sculpture, Painting, experimental film and any type of performance Arts, It supports the Atlanta artistic community as much as they possibly can.
 .As I attended an experimental film screening last week,  in one of their galleries, I found this great exhibit called "The Art of Such n' Such".  It is a mixture of Photography, Painting and interactive Sculptures. A fantastic multi artist collaboration led by Charlie Smith and Jaime Ladet.
As a viewer, just by stepping into the space I got delighted, the atmosphere was such of an old time circus, or better yet, a side show; elements that I have always loved since childhood.  There are peekaboo boxes (To satisfy the one eye curious), an interactive sound-coordinated-light-looking-like-gramophone or (something like it) that changes colors and lights while you clap and an  incredible array of metal sculptures that you can literally play with. Well, these metal structures are built by Charlie Smith, They are amazing!!!, well made and with a fantastic sense of design and craftsmanship. However, that is not the best. He produces big scale public art pieces that you can experience even as a livable space, and he ignites them with fire (photographs of these occurrences are displayed on the walls). He has taken these installations to several parts of the US, Australia and South Africa.
  Well, needless to say  I wanted to experience the whole thing, and of course I had to ask  the Eyedrum staff if by chance any performance of such exhibit will happen in the near future. Their answer was" there was an opening party on October 9th, but there will be a closing party on November 12th, and that also includes other performers like fire breathers and such".
Join then the amazing people of "The Art of Such n' Such" to have a wonderful time at Eyedrum on November12th from the hours of 7:00 pm to 1:00 am. I know it will be a wonderful experience.

Inside, Outside and on Top of Containers

 Containers usage and a land in void  between two Atlanta Downtown neighborhoods, was the main idea behind the temporary multimedia-multi artists installation called Convergent Frequencies, brought to the people by the I45 collective push, which includes the efforts of several Atlanta galleries in the area of Inman Park, the Old Fourth Ward and Little Five Points.

  The atmosphere was fantastic, the music performed in sync with the video installation was under my perception, the greatest piece of the whole thing; the two string musicians playing over Electronic Atmospheric waves in the likes of  Robert Rich's Undulating Terrain and with the warm breeze blowing in mid September, made you relax and enjoy the crowd.

  It was so subjugating that I was able to walk around calmly with tripod and camera, and no rush to take the pics, the only agitating thing around were the few kids in the crowd running in the lot, and screaming- Awesome!! when any of the performance ended.

An event and other Million Things

It has been hard processing images, going out to do some sessions, getting ready for a photography exhibit/ auction, enjoy a most anticipated concert, managing everything else in life and above all......blogging.

I have been away for a while; and I am trying to get back solid again.

Finally the end of this week seems to be a little bit more manageable; today I am posting some images of the silent auction I  had the Honor to be part of, where. I was able to sell an image.

Amazing Grace

It is the end of the week, and my heart goes out content.
To the point of no return, my eyes have seen how I can feel when I look at an image.
It went as deep as creating an utmost anxiety because I didn't want to touch the images.
Didn't know what to do with them, they were breathtakingly beautiful, creative, just as I have seen them in my mind.
The retributions were (above thousands of them), first; the fact that everything in the image is hand made, there is no layering, no Photoshop, just the hue and exposure adjustment;  and secondly  the wonderful quote when the model saw them and vehemently told me " This is exactly who I want to be, and how I want to feel, always relaxed and elated"
